Babu Pashupati Nath Rai
was born in 1909 into a distinguished Bhumihar Brahmin family of the Kinwar
clan, the Zamindars of Kundesar village in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. In 1929, he
joined the Indian independence movement and actively participated in the
nation’s struggle for freedom.
Following India’s
independence in 1947, he was appointed as the Gram Pradhan (Mukhia) and
went on to be elected five consecutive times as the head of the Kundesar Gram
Panchayat, which also included the villages of Kabirpur Kala, Kabirpur Khurd,
Bagaspura, and Jai Nagar. During his tenure, he spearheaded the development of
infrastructure in the region, constructing several streets, establishing two
schools, and setting up a Swasthya Sewa Kendra (Health Service Center).
His leadership as Gram Pramukh left an enduring legacy, inspiring future generations. Widely respected as the “Rai Sahib of Kundesar”, he was regarded as the central figure and guiding force of the area. After his health began to decline post-1985, he passed away in 1987, leaving behind a lasting imprint on his community.
